For centuries the white marble figure of the Venus de Milo was considered the perfect beauty. Marilyn Monroe was the bombshell of the 1950s. In the 1960s, people began to say that Black is beautiful. Beauty is a slippery thing. It changes as society changes. An artist must look at what beauty has been in the past and discover what beauty will be tomorrow.
