How are African American males viewed by the average person - are they put on a pedestal like Michael Jordan? Are they held in high esteem like Mohammed Ali? Are they relegated to lower society as thieves or prisoners? Are they invisible as slaves? The Country Western singer, Hank Williams, Jr., recently brought this issue to the forefront with his disparaging remarks about President Obama. How does he see an African American male like Obama - a slave to step on or as the highest public official in the country, the most powerful person in the world? How do you view African American males - high on a pedestal, a thief, a prisoner? Or a normal family man, an average person, just like you?
